Esp Mrs. Henry R. (Alva) Esp, 79 of Fishtail passed away peacefully Tues. afternoon at the Stillwater Community Hospital in Columbus. Mrs. Esp was very interested in the young people and her hobby was flowers. She was born Feb. 27. 1900 in Belt, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lee. She attended schools in Belt until 1913 at which time she moved to Big Timber where she graduated from Sweet Grass County High School. She worked for a time at the Golden Rule Department store and the telephone company in Big Timber. She was married to Henry R. Esp in 1923. In 1928 they moved to the Lodge Grass and Wyola area of the Crow reservation where they operated a ranch until 1974 when she and her husband retired to a home near Fishtail. While living in Big Horm County she was very active in the Farm Bureau on both the local and state level. Survivors include her husband of Fishtail; two sons; Donald of Fishtail and Henry L. of Hardin; one sister Thelma Strub of San Bruno, Califo., and brother John Lee of Grey Cliff; and 5 grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Friday from the United Church of Christ in Big Timber. The Rev. Michael Moore and the Rev. Eugene Nilsen officiated. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery in Big Timber. Lowery Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Tom Esp, Chris Esp, Arne Esp, Eric Esp, Mark Esp, and Jack Plaggemeyer. Solist was the Rev. Michael Moore, organist was Mrs. Richard Knudson.
